 DANCERS' EDUCATION

Parallel Universities
The mind-set of mid-career dance professors

Earlier this year, Liam Clancy, assistant professor of dance at UC San Diego, performed his signature piece “Division Street: A Natural History of the Headlock” at the Wagner dance studio. He pranced about on four-foot stilts, did stunts on a pink bicycle and told a story that masterfully mixed hilarity with personal heartache. Allyson Green's performance experience reads like a world atlas. Based in New York from 1986-2001, she’s performed and collaborated with dozens of companies. Her company, Allyson Green Dance, has been presented throughout the United States, Europe and South America, and she teaches at Dance Place. Joe Alter joined SDSU in August 2005, and he brings a wealth of international performance and teaching experience to the program. This summer, he’ll return to Poland for two weeks, along with Clancy and the newest SDSU professor, Leslie Seiters, who joined SDSU last August.
