Face it - How to Apply Liquid Foundation
By Meleah
Follow these easy tips for foolproof foundation application. It is easier
than you think! First, be sure you have enough light -- natural light is
best. When the lighting is correct, you can catch all the imperfections and
areas that need more blending.
Pour about a dime-sized circle of foundation into the palm of your hand (not
on the sponge) and let it warm up and adjust to your skin chemistry. Use a
sponge and take small amounts from the edges of the circle. Start with your
forehead and blend small amounts downward. Facial hair grows downward, so
you want to go with the growth pattern. Be sure to get in and around the
edges of the nose and inner corners of the eyes.
The "C"-shaped area beside the nose and just under the tear duct tend to be
thin skinned and look darker, so be sure to apply here. Apply the foundation
over the eyelids and the lips. These areas are often skipped, but need to be
included.
Foundation not only evens the skin tone, but also acts as a glue to hold
color in place. Makeup on eyes, lips and cheeks will last much longer when
applied over foundation. A sponge will apply the product more evenly, and
you will use less. Using the fingers applies too much, does not cover evenly
and stresses the skin. (To read the complete article, please see the
